Mike's Paddle and SupAsana Eastbay have paired up to offer you the SUPAsana Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga Certification Program. Spend a 4-day weekend in an idyllic portion of the San Francisco Bay learning everything you need to know about confidently teaching Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga. The training will offer you valuable knowledge and experience teaching SUP and SUP yoga classes. Bring your playful and brave spirit as we explore the elements and dive deep into this incredibly nourishing and insightful practice of SUP Yoga. You will finish the training with not only knowledge and experience, but with a community of SUP Yoga teachers to support you on your way.

The 4-day Certification Program Includes:

Stand UP Paddleboard Instruction: Learn paddling techniques and how to effectively teach them to others.

Safety and Rescue Techniques: Learn how to navigate weather and water safety. 

SUP Yoga: Learn how to adapt yoga poses to the water and to teach an all-levels class. Gain experience teaching a class on the water.

Building Your Business: Learn the business basics of SUP Yoga and leave with a set of photos of you practicing on the water to use in your marketing.

Community Building and Self-Care Techniques: Each day will end with nourishing self-care techniques and the weekend will foster community support.

Must have 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Certification

Only 20 minutes from San Francisco and adjacent to Oakland, Alameda's Ballena Bay offers students a protected harbor that is perfect for learning and practicing SUP Yoga. We will also adventure out into the Bay, which offers sweeping views of San Francisco. 

 

TEACHERS:

Mike Wang - Owner of Mike's Paddle and Coach - In 2013, Mike decided to leave his professional career as a Finance and HR manager at UCSF to start his own business. SUP combines his passion of paddling and being healthy to heal his back. He is enthusiastic about teaching people how to paddle and how to stand up and he loves sharing his love for the sport. This sport is open to everyone! Certifications: PaddlFit Coach level 1 to level 3, American Canoe Association (ACA) SUP instructor level 1, 2, Level 3 Whitewater, First Aid and CPR.

Malia Hill - Co-Founder and Lead Instructor at SUPAsana: Malia left corporate America and became a yoga instructor to help spread the benefits of yoga and living in the present moment to as many people as possible. She completed her Teacher Training in 2009 and has been teaching for seven years all over the Bay Area. Malia’s yoga class is a spiritual and challenging playful flow, mixing vinyasa, power, and ashtanga styles and co-leads Teacher Training at Just Be Yoga. She is the Yoga Director of Ume Yoga Oakland. She is the co-founder of SupAsana East Bay which has run BOGA Yoga Stand Up Paddleboard classes since 2010 . Malia has taught yoga at The Wanderlust Festivals in Oahu and Squaw Valley, at Yoga Reaches Out Bay Area, at several retreats and at Yoga Rocks The Park. She has had the honor of being a lululemon ambassador for six consecutive years and has been a BOGA Yoga ambassador for BOGA Paddleboards. Malia was the co-chair for Yoga Reaches Out Bay Area which has raised over $200,000 for childrens' charities through yoga events. She is the proud mother of a beautiful daughter, Kalea.

Sari Gelzer Stankowski- SUP Yoga Instructor and SUP Yoga Manager at Mike's Paddle: Sari Gelzer Stankowski, RYT-500 and ERYT-200 is a Sri Yoga certified yoga teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area who creates experiences that tap into the physical and energetic bodies. Sari offers hatha flow and vinyasa style yoga classes and workshops in studios, workplaces and High Schools in the Bay Area. Sari has been practicing yoga since 2001 and has explored a wide range of styles during that time. Her continued practice led her to study Sri Yoga with Brenna Geehan and Jean Mazzei. She enjoys working with a wide range of ages and is a certified yoga for  youth instructor and SUP Yoga instructor. Learn more at www.YogaWithSari.com.

Kathleen Carpenter - Co-Founder of SUPAsana: Kathleen is an avid Stand Up Paddleboarder who you can catch most weekends at Mike's Paddle downwinding with her husband Rick. She has brought SUP Yoga to thousands of yoga practictioners with SUPAsana and she brings years of paddling experience and business knowledge to the training to share.
